"My heart is in my art. Although I am known for my work in graphite and colored art pencil, I love a challenge and get easily bored. My nature leads me to work in a variety of styles, media, and subject matter. What I am trying to achieve in my artwork is to convey my multiple interests and experiences, and to connect with all different types of people through art. I paint with oils, acrylics, pastels, watercolors, tempura, inks, and graphite powder. I draw with graphite as well, and with pen and ink, charcoal, and Cretacolors. I throw pottery and work in ceramics, and make handmade paper.
My subject matter are portraits, scenery, animals and horses, and architecture (in that order), in a variety of palettes. I have been told that my strong point is my mastery of light in a composition.
I am a nationally-licensed artist whose work has been accepted into local, national, and world-wide juried competitions. My art sells monthly through the Swogger Gallery in Wamego, KS, and at Fairlane Plaza in Topeka, and has also been sold through the Flower Nook in Salina and at Wren Radio in Northern Topeka (via previous monthly art walks). It has been displayed at multiple galleries in Kansas and Oklahoma. I have sold annually for the past three years at the World Shooting Complex in Sparta, Illinois. I have artwork on permanent display Theodore’s Gallery in Manhattan, KS, at the County Building in Lansing, Michigan, and at the offices of Ultra Electronics in Manhattan, KS. My work has sold worldwide and multiple pieces have sold to collectors both in the U.S. and U.K., some of whom have become repeat clients. I participate in many art shows and events throughout the year, both in Kansas and in other states, and am currently showing in traveling collection entitled “The Harlem Renaissance” which is located at the Quincy Convention Center, Topeka.
I also donate artwork and time to charitable causes, and welcome those inquiries.
